Teachers house – Mazzi Secondary School

CGC build teachers duplex at Mazzi

Mazzi Secondary is over 60 minutes from the nearest population center with housing to accommodate teaching staff. The drive is long and dusty down a narrow macadam and dirt road. When it rains it is almost impassable to auto traffic. As a result, it is difficult to recruit good teachers and also difficult for the teachers to be prompt and consistent in attendance to class. In order to improve this situation, CGC provided all the materials necessary for the building of the first on site teachers house at the school. Local workmen built the house. Mazzi now has one full time teacher who is always there. The other teachers are accommodated to stay overnight 3-4 nights a week at the school. A second larger teachers house is badly needed and planned for by the community and local authorities in the near future.
