"You Can Inspire Change." - CGC Camp 2014

On 9th to 12th May 2014, Concern for the Girl Child held its Fred Kasozi memorial Camp at Mazzi Vocational Secondary School in Kamira Sub County, Luwero district. The camp theme was “You can inspire change.” The girls are always excited for this annual event because, it empowers them with skills, inspiration messages from invited motivational, inspirational speakers and counselors. All CGC girls right from secondary, vocational, tertially and University were invited. The big sisters who completed their studies were among the participants.

In the camp skills like Flower arrangement/decoaraton, Bakery, Liquid soap making, jellwery making and writings were among the skills passed on to the girls in their different groups during the camp. Each girl selected her own choice of interest for a particular skill. Social interaction and new friends were made. The items made by the girls for each for each skill was later exhibited. The Executive Director, urged the girls to look out for good role models to inspire them for the right cause. Mr. Makumbi Baliruno of CEDOV- Center for Domestic Violence an Ngo shared his life experience with the girls as his inspiration message from a man’s perspective. The guest of honor Prof. Badru Kateregga, the proprietor of Kampala University, made a remarkable and interactive presentation on inspiration. The camp was crowned by a candle lighting ceremony, a symbol for all to inspire change and a cake cutting ceremony to welcome new senior one beneficiaries to the programme.
